Double Flop Hold'em is a form of regular Texas Hold'em, but in addition to the Flop cards, the Turn and the River, Double Flop Hold’em has more community cards.
Twice the Flop in Double Flop
Not only is there twice the flop in Double Flop Hold’em but also twice the turn and twice the river. This makes for twice the amount of community cards available to help build your winning hand. For the flop, six cards are dealt - three for the upper board and three for the lower board. Then there are two Turn cards that are dealt, one for the upper board, and one for the lower board. And finally, there are two River cards, one for the upper board, and one for the lower board.
How Many Cards Are Used in Double Flop?
In double flop you also make your best hand out of five cards from the seven available, because you use your two pocket cards (the two cards dealt to you) and plus the five cards of the upper or lower board. Since Double Flop Hold’em uses only a single 52-card deck, it is important to turn that into your advantage by studying what isn’t in another player’s hand. Your King high flush will appear very attractive when you can see the Ace on the other board with a bunch of suits that don't match!
Choices Galore in Double Flop
Since you can use either the upper or lower row to build your hand, you already have a good beginning for building a winning hand. Also, you don’t have to declare your choice of lower or upper row and you can change the row you are using throughout the game. For example, say you are dealt an Ace and a King and the lower flop has a jack, an eight and a ten, while the upper flop has three, an ace, and a king. In this case, you would choose the upper row and because you would get two pairs. Next, the turn cards are dealt and the lower row gets a Queen while the upper row gets an eight. At this point, you might decide to go with the lower board because the lower board’s Ace high gives you a straight.
Once all of the cards have been dealt and all betting has been completed, your best hand value can be determined and evaluated against the hands of the other remaining players.
Now that you’re armed with the basic facts of the game, you can go out and try your luck. |
