Poker has developed several variations. In each case, they are accompanied by their own set of rules and strategies. Their summaries are provided below. These however are very brief and further research is recommended should you want to play for money.
Straight Poker: players are dealt all five cards in the start of the game. At this point no draws are made. They continue with one round of betting. At the end of this the winner is either the person with the highest hand, or the last remaining player.
Texas Holdem Poker: this is one of the most popular forms of poker around. In this game, cards are both on the table and held by the players. The players first two cards are dealt face down. Following this, the table is dealt five cards also face down. The player completes his hand between the five cards on the table and the two he is holding. The player is then called onto bet. afterwards, the three cards on the table are flipped. Another round of betting takes place. The last card is flipped, another round of betting and then the pot is awarded to the remaining player or the player with the highest hand.
Stud Poker: in this version, the players also receive some cards up and others down. There are also multiple rounds of betting. Five card stud and seven card stud are the more common forms of this version.
Draw Poker: in this game players first receive five cards dealt face down. They are then allowed to pick them up and view them. Betting starts with the player immediately to the left of the dealer. Once the first round of betting has been completed, players have the option of exchanging unwanted cards for new ones. Players may discard up to three cards. The player with the highest hand, or the only player to remain, wins the pot.
