  Video Poker Odds

Video poker odds are not dissimilar to regular poker odds. This means that winning combinations are only available a particular number of times. Similarly, video poker share several variation, versions and types of play and games. Like its regular counterpart, video poker has certain strategies depending on the version of game being played.

The payout schedule of each machine has its postings. These increase your odds at video poker. The payout schedule chart located on each machine outlines what each number indicates. For example:

Machine with a 10/7 double bonus pays out at 100.2%.

Likewise, a machine type of 9/7 offers a 100.7% payout.

Similarly, a machine type of 9/6 offers a 99.5% payout.

While machine type of 8/5 offers a 97.3% payout.

Additionally, a machine type of 7/5 offers a 96.3% payout.

And finally, a machine type of 6/5 offers a 95.2% payout.

The above table indicates that some machines do payout over 100%. Nevertheless, they are few, so don't get too excited. While it does appear to have enormous payouts, it doesn’t mean that everyone who plays will win – let alone win all the money and then some. Casinos maintain and offer these kinds of machines, since they know that most people do not have a good enough strategy to play them and win.

The next important thing to know, following the payout schedule is the odds that is takes to achieving a specific hand. For example, what are the chances of holding a Royal Flush or Straight.

Well, this depends. For those playing a 9/6 Jacks or Better machine, not only is the payout on a Royal Flush at 4,000, but you only have 1 chance in 40,390 of actually getting it. Similarly, payouts on a Straight Flush is at 250. the chances of getting this is 1 in 9,148. alternatively, the four of a kind payout is at 125. this holds a chance of 423. A full house has a payout of forty five, and holds the chance of 1 in 86. with a chance of 1 in 90, its not surprising that the payout  on a Flush is 30. likewise, payouts on straights sits at 20 since the chances of getting this are 1 chance in 89. similarly, three of a kind has an even lower payout and higher chance of getting it. The payout on getting Three of a Kind is 15 and there is 1 chance in 13 that you will get it. Moreover, the payout on getting Two Pair is 10. this is because the chance is 1 in 7 that you will get it. While the lowest payout and highest chance goes to getting jacks or better. The payout is at 5 and there is 1 chance in 4 that you will get it.

The unexpected payout to the full house, that exceeds the payout for a flush differs from regular poker. The single reason for this is to give players better odds and therefore a higher chance of winning.
