There are two categories that cover slot machines:
The first is Straight slot machine- these are slot machines that contain fixed jackpot payouts in accordance with the machines' payout schedule.

Progressive slot machines may be identified by an electronic board attached to the top of the machine. This board displays the progressive jackpot. When played, every one of the slot machines in the progressive group, acts to increase the progressive jackpot.

You walk into a casino and before you are a bank of "Wheel of Fortune" progressive slot machines. By noticing the payout schedule has progressive listed as the top jackpot, you know that the slots are progressive.
The electronic board displaying the jackpot increases every time someone plays one of the machines on this progressive bank.
Whatever dollar amount is listed on the electronic board is won by the player who hits the progressive jackpot.
Things one needs to remember when paying progressive slots:
-there are 2% odds that you will be a winner. But since winning is a matter of luck anyway, this really does not matter.
-The most important thing is that you must bet the maximum bet if you want to win the progressive jackpot. Choose a straight slot if you don't feel comfortable about betting the maximum, rather than playing a progressive slot machine.
In spite of the fact that the odds of winning on a progressive slot are in fact only be a bit more, it would be the worst thing be betting one coin and hit the progressive jackpot. Then you would only win a few hundred dollars and miss out on the thousands of dollars the max bet could return. |
