Learning to play craps

The game casino craps goes as follows:

The players firstly place their bets. These bets are covered by the casino bank. Additionally, the casino banked craps game offers more than just covering bets. They also offer various types of proposition bets. The proposition and more basic pass and don’t pass bets will be explained below.

Four people run the craps game. These include 1) the boxman, the boxman sits in the middle of the table. He is considered the 'boss' of the game. His role is to constantly watch what is going on. 2) on each side of the boxman are dealers. Two dealers – one on either side. The dealers pay the winners and take the chips off the table from the losers. The dealer is responsible for the players on his / her side. The center box of propositions on the table divides it into two halves. The stickman also separates the table into two halves. He stands on the side of the players.

The game's action is controlled by the stickman. He paces both the game and the dice. Once all the bets have been placed the stickman pushes a couple sets of dice to the shooter. Once this particular player has selected which set of dice to throw, he/ she makes the roll. They dice need to roll across the table and hit the other side.

If the first roll results in a seven or eleven, known as a natural, all the pass line bets win. The winnings are paid out at two to one. That means you win the equivalent to the amount of chips you placed.

However, if a 2, 3 or 12 is thrown, known as craps, the pass line bet loses. The dealer will then pick up your pass line bet.

Nevertheless, the shooter continues to throw. The same shooter rolls the dice until he rolls a seven – also known as sevens out.

Other numbers of course can also be rolled. Known as box point these numbers include 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10. The object of the game is to keep rolling these numbers. Those players who have placed bets on these will keep winning until a seven is thrown, in which case they lose any money remaining on the board.

The best advice for beginners is to play the line bet and the come bet – either pass or don’t pass. These bets offer the best odds. In cases where casinos offer added odds to the pass line bet, it is advised to take advantage of these offers. It is also advisable to increase only winning bets and not to double up on losing bets.

Description

Seven – the seven is a one roll bet that pays out 4 to 1. the house edge is over 16 percent.

Eleven – like the seven this is a one roll bet. it pays out at 14 to 1, the true odds are at 17 to 1. this has the same house edge as the seven.

Place bets – the 4 and 10 are place bets that pay out 9 to 5 with a true house odds of 10 to 5. the house edge is just over 6 percent.

The 5 and 9 however, pay out 7 to 5 with an edge of 4 percent. While the 6 and 8 pay 7 to 6 with an edge of one and a half percent.

Buy bets – if a player opt to pay and extra 5 percent known as vigorish, he / she can play with true odds on all the numbers. Apparently this is only worth anything on the 4 an 10 – since they dramatically reduce the house edge to just under 5 percent.

Hard ways- with a payoff of 9 to 1, the hard ways bet can be placed on the 4, 6, 8 and 10. the house edge between nine and 11 percent. This isn’t considered a very good bet.

Come bets and don’t come bets – this has the exact same percentages as the pass line bets.

pass line bets – these pay even money with a small house edge of just over one percent. This is considered one of the smarter bets to be made.

Don’t pass bets – are almost the equal opposite of the pass line bets, except is has slightly better odds.

The field – has a house edge of 5.55 percent. It is also a one roll bet with even money payout.

Any craps – also considered a one roll bet with a 2,3 or 12 hit. The odds are 7 to 1 with a house edge of around 11 percent.

BIG 6 & 8:
Player bets in boxes marked as such as receives even money instead of 6 to 5 true odds. House has a 9.09% edge.

Horn bet – while the 2, 3 and 12 and 11 may be bet separately, the area where they are situated is known as the horn. A player can make a horn bet, he does this by handing the bet directly to the dealer and calling out the amount he has bet on the horn. The payoff is 30 for the 1, 2 or 12 while only 3 for the 11. with a house edge of over 16 percent, this is considered a really bad bet and highly not – recommended.
